This
is the last of a series of 4 newsletters designed to help you
have success with a healthy and happy New Year. One last tip…
New
Year: New You! Getting Ready for a Happy and Healthy 2010
| 10. |
Small
Steps. Be kind to yourself. Making changes in eating
and exercise does not happen quickly. As you work on putting
the pieces together, you will begin to eat healthier and
will lose weight if that is a goal. Keeping a food diary,
monitoring portion sizes, increasing activity, and planning
your grocery list- will lead to success.
Work on increasing your nutrition knowledge by exploring
books and magazines at the book store and library. Attend
a local grocery store tour class. Keep an eye out for healthy
cooking classes in your area.
Boost your interest in exercise by watching for fun new
workout wear. Discount stores such as Wal-Mart and Marshall’s
can help save money on workout clothes, and offer a variety
of sizes. Share workout DVD’s with friends and co-workers.
Mix up your exercise routine to keep things interesting.
If you get stuck in a rut, visit a Registered Dietitian
who can assess your eating habits and adjust your calorie
level. Healthy eating and exercise can help prevent health
problems and increase energy. |
Print
this sheet and hang it on the refrigerator as a reminder of the
steps that you need to take this week to get ready for the New Year!
